2 potatoes, sliced into 1/2 inch strips with skin left on
2 sprigs of thyme, 1 reserved for garnish
1/4 tablespoon dried oregano. If you have fresh, use it.
Olive oil
Salt 'n' peppa
1 Put the sliced potatoes in a medium sized bowl and coat with olive oil, salt, fresh thyme and oregano.
2 Pre-grease grill so the potatoes won't stick. (If you don't have a george foreman grill, any hot plate or pan with grill marks will do.) Layer the potatoes flat without overlapping and cover for 10-15 minutes until you see grill marks, then flip them over. You can do this in batches if you are making a large quantity.
3 Remove fries when both sides have grill marks and are tender. Sprinkle with some more salt and fresh sprigs of thyme and serve.

these look delish. Who knew that George Foreman was such a gourmand?
These grown up fries look amazing. Who would have thought that they were made, courtesy of George Foreman! YUM!
ha, i love the idea of making fries on a foreman grill. they look awesome.
These look so yummy and are going to make me reprise an old recipe that I haven't touched in quite some time. I'm so happy to have found your blog (saw mention of it on this week's BSI, which caught my interest having never heard of the BSI prior). Looking forward to regularly reading your writing! Best wishes.
They look so crisp and delicious! I love that you included thyme; it's my favorite herb to use with potatoes. I like the lemony notes better than the straight piney-ness of rosemary.
first time here! grown up fries aren't fried. I beg to differ! i love how simple everything is. ok... goin to check things out.
Delicious fries! I do that a lot!
Cheers,
Rosa
The fries look great, and so easy to make. Who can be bothered with deep frying for a weeknight dinner?
Also, thanks for inadvertently reminding me that I have a George Foreman grill! I'm staying away from home for work and the place here has one. I've never used one before but what a great way to start.
This looks so good. I am bookmarking this one!
the george foreman grill is a wonderful tool, and this is a terrific use for it! i don’t believe i’ve ever flavored potatoes with thyme, but i enjoy both so i don’t think i’d have a problem putting away a couple servings. :)
awesome fries - 'so grown up'
We make our kids have "grown up" fries too. But what a great idea to grill the potatoes. I usually do it in the oven or the pan. i will use my cast iron stove top pan next time.. for the grill marks. pretty.
mmmmmmm.. These grown up fries look good...
I'll take some grown-up fries...what a great idea, they sound so tasty. I don't have a George Forman, but I do have a grill pan...now I just need to go get some Vinegar Sea Salt and I'll be in heaven!!
Who knew you could do that on a george forman grill! That's fantastic! I want some!
I love grilling potatoes - these look great! I have a potato salad on my blog that uses grilled potatoes - gives a nice flavor to the salad.
Looks delicious,love the herbs
grown-up fries, indeed.. love the addition of the herbs, and the fact that they're grilled. i'm sure i wouldn't feel as guilty as when i eat the fried ones.
Cooking these on the George Foreman is such a great idea! They look delicious!
Yum.
Yum and
(you guessed it)...Yum.
Sure you have to pay bills and taxes when you're a grown up but at least we get to have grown up fries. :)
Great job Zoe.
Love the fries. Never imagined that I could grill potatoes on GF grill. It's definitely a good alternative to the deep fried fries.
You're just the best! I love potatoes any way they're made, but this looks and sounds fabulous!!

I will try these on the outdoor grill......thanks for the good idea!
these fries---all golden brown and covered with fresh thyme---look like the best fries imaginable! I will try this soon. Thanks!
these are gorgeous -- and make me so glad to be a grown-up! (finally, something good about being an adult!)
The george foreman grill ROCKS! I have the one where the plates come off for easy clean up! My fave way to use it is to cook bacon. Makes it flat, crispy and NO grease popping everywhere!
I haven't tried making fries on it. I guess I'm going to have grown up fries topped with capers this weekend! Quick I need a protein.

I just got a small GF grill too! This recipe sounds great ... a must try for me.
I never thought of using my George Forman for French fries and it is healthier way to make it.
